Invited Speakers

 

Prof. Orazio Giustolisi full Professor at the Technical University of Bari (Politecnico di Bari) in Italy and former Dean of the Engineering Faculty of Taranto of the Technical University of Bari. He is a member of Civil Engineering and Architecture Department (DICAR) and formerly he was member of the  of Civil and Environmental Engineering Dept. (DICA) and Water Engineering Dept. (DIA), in the same University, since 1990. Currently, he is teaching Management of Water Systems and Waterworks (Undergraduate and Postgraduate). He has about 20 years experience with numerical modelling applied to hydraulic engineering. He authored/co-authored more than 100 papers on national/international conferences, books and journals. 

Prof. Giustolisi is: Associate Editor of the Journal of Hydroinformatics, Member of the Advisory Board of Urban Water Journal, Member of the International Scientific Committee of the International Conferences on Hydroinformatics, Member of the International Scientific Committee of Computing and Control for the Water Industry Conferences, Member of the International Scientific Committee of Water Distribution System Analysis Conferences, Member of the Oversight Scientific Committee of Water System Analysis Conferences, Invited speaker in a Plenary Session of CCWI 2007, Outstanding Reviewer Prize for IWA 2006 and Honorary Visiting Professor of the University of Exeter – UK since 2006.

 

Prof. George Tsakiris is the director of the Centre for the Assessment of Natural Hazards and Proactive Planning of the National Technical University of Athens and director of the Laboratory of Reclamation Works and Water Resources Management, School of Rural and Surveying Engineering of NTUA. He has PhD from the Civil Engineering Dept. of Southampton University, U.K. He is a full Professor since 1988 teaching engineering hydrology, hydraulic works and water resources management. 
His research interests (among others) include topics of hydro-meteorological extremes (droughts and floods), non-stationary hydrological processes, and water resources management under uncertainty and adaptive water resources management. He is active in research having convened more than 50 European and national research projects, most of which as scientific coordinator. He has published more than 100 peer reviewed papers in international scientific journals and a large number of papers in Proceedings of international and national conferences. He is the author/co-author of five textbooks in Greek and one in English, and the editor of many conference proceedings. He is the Editor-in-chief of the international journal Water Resources Management published by Springer, and member of the Editorial Board of several other journals. He has been the key organiser of a large number of international conferences and symposia in several European cities. Currently, he is the President of the European Water Resources Association (EWRA) and the National Representative of the International Association of Hydrological Sciences (IAHS).
